Transportation

The goal of the Transportation Program is to provide residents opportunities to become self sufficient through employment, job training and other supportive services to help residents of public housing transition from welfare to work.

The guidelines for the Transportation Program are as follows:

  • You must be an OHA resident to participate and are on the lease.    Head of Households have priority over other family members.
  • We transport for applications, interviews and employment.
  • The first two weeks upon receiving employment are free. Resident will then be required to purchase a van pass. The cost of the van pass is $10.00 for 20 rides. This is added to the residents rent.
  • It is the resident’s responsibility to notify OHA regarding employment. Resident has (10) days to report employment.
  • The Transportation Specialist is only allowed to pick up residents at the designated pick locations. The program does not provide door-to-door pick up or any transportation that is considered personal. It is not allowed.
  • Residents are required to call and cancel there ride when not needed. If resident does not call, this is considered a “No Call, No Show”. Upon receiving (3), the resident will lose the opportunity to participate in the program.
